A curious soul beneath the open skies
Samragyee
Neupane
I am a quiet wanderer in the wide world of wings, still learning the many names written upon every feather. Nature has always offered its treasures freely, but birding has taught me the beauty of pausing, of letting the hurried hours soften and making room for wonder. I am at the beginning of a journey that asks me to look closer, listen longer, and follow the secrets carried upon the wind. Here, every rustle in the canopy is an invitation to linger, and every wingbeat a story waiting to unfold.
Origin story
A sanctuary built by kindness
This sanctuary of mine was born from the kindness of a few very dear souls, each leaving their own quiet imprint upon this journey in ways I will carry with me for a very long time.
This journey began with Sushant and Eshu, whose passion and gentle guidance first led me into the world of wings. Before them, I had walked beneath the same branches and the same skies without knowing how much there was to notice.
They taught me to look a little closer, listen a little longer, and find wonder in what had always been there. If curiosity was the first step, they were the ones who taught me where to place my feet. And somehow, that little curiosity grew into this.
Daxyata and Abhishek gave that growing fascination a place to call home, bringing this journal to life with their time, creativity, and care. Abhishek gave this little dream its shape, building the space where these stories could unfold.
Daxyata has been woven into this journey in a way that goes far beyond these pages. She has been my dearest friend, my loudest believer, and the person who has cheered for even the smallest sparks of this journey as though they were something extraordinary.
She has a way of making the things I care about feel worth caring about, and I don't think I could have imagined a better person to have beside me as this little dream found its shape. So much of the courage to begin, to share, and to keep going has been made easier simply because she was there.
Swikritee has been part of this journey in the gentlest of ways. She has given me binoculars to bring distant wings closer, books to deepen a growing curiosity, journals to hold the things I discover, and the little tools that have slowly become part of my time in the field.
There is a particular tenderness in being given something that helps you become more of who you are. To be loved is to be seen, and through every thoughtful gift, I have felt seen.
Once curiosity becomes your compass, the horizons stretch endless and deep, revealing that nature does not hide its beauty, it merely waits for us to slow down enough to notice
The Danfe
The Himalayan Monal
High among the Himalayan forests lives a bird of miraculous palette, the Lophophorus impejanus our Danfe. It’s iridescent plumage catches the light in shades almost too vivid to be real, as though the mountains themselves lent the wild its most brilliant hues. To encounter one among the trees is to meet Nepal in its purest form: untamed, fleeting, and quietly magnificent.
More than just a spectacle of nature, the Danfe carries a deep sense of home. It is a living emblem of the mountains, the woods, and the quiet wonder that surrounds us here. Danfe Diaries was born in its honor, a personal tribute to the landscapes I call home and a reminder to stop, look up, and see this extraordinary place through fresh eyes.
